Chief of Staff and Chief Development & Communications Officer
As Africare’s chief of staff and chief development and communications officer, Davenport provides oversight and leadership to staff and monitors day to day business operations at Africare headquarters, as well as leading a comprehensive development program to cultivate and diversify individual, corporate and foundation support, and to develop new partnerships. Davenport is also responsible for the management and strategic direction of Africare’s online and print publications, and media and public relations.
Davenport’s experience in strategic planning, fundraising, management and non-profit marketing spans more than 25 years. Prior to joining Africare, she was director of corporate and foundation relations at Project HOPE. Before that, she was director of development for the Population Reference Bureau, and prior to PRB, Davenport headed fundraising and marketing for the International SeaKeepers Association. Before her work with SeaKeepers, Davenport spent nearly ten years with the National Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Alliance (SIDS Alliance), where she served as a liaison to the organization’s national affiliates and later as the Alliance’s national director of development.
Davenport holds a bachelor’s degree in English and communications from Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA.
