Africare's Second Annual Community Pumpkin Patch
Pumpkins for attendees provided by Wegmeyer Farms
Batman, cats, fairies and an astronaut roamed Africare House's grounds in Washington, D.C. during our second annual Community Pumpkin Patch on Friday, October 25. Children, students, parents and chaperons from the Shaw neighborhood enjoyed face painting, arts and crafts, snacks, free pumpkins and good cheer with their neighbors from Africare's headquarters staff as the work week ended.
The event grew in every way since its inaugural year in 2012, with more kids, more fun and surprising height increases in some of the children since last Africare saw them. Many thanks to Wegmeyer Farms for supplying the pumpkins, and we were delighted by the exuberance and participation of community members and volunteers. We look forward to next year!
