Give at Work

Many employers offer you the ease of making a gift to Africare at work — through the U.S. government's Combined Federal Campaign, state and local government campaigns, and private-sector campaign, including those run by United Way. Many employers will match your gift by a specific amount per dollar donated by you (maximizing your giving to the people of Africa).

Below, see how you can give through a workplace-giving campaign or by asking your employer to match your gift.

Workplace-Giving Campaigns

Many workplaces hold employee-giving drives, letting you donate to your favorite charities in a way that's both convenient and secure ― convenient, because you usually give through payroll deductions in small amounts year-round and without the need to write a check; secure, because the eligible charities are pre-screened to meet high standards of financial management and program effectiveness.

Africare is a part of most workplace-giving campaigns as a member charity of the Global Impact federation.

  • U.S. federal employees and military personnel within the United States and abroad: Support Africare through the Combined Federal Campaign. Africare is CFC code # 11107.
  • U.S. state and local government employees: You can designate your gift for Africare, a member of the Global Impact federation. Africare is code # 11107.
  • Private-sector employees: The Global Impact federation, which includes Africare, participates in the annual giving campaigns ― including United Way campaigns ― of nearly 500 companies and other private-sector employers. Check to see if your employer sponsors a workplace-giving campaign. Africare is code # 11107.

For more information about workplace-giving campaigns, contact your Human Resources Department or Africare (contact info below).

Matching Gifts

Many companies and other employers "match'' their employees' gifts to qualifying organizations. Check to see if your employer has a matching gift program.

If your employer does match employee gifts:

  • Request your employer's matching gift form.
  • Fill out the form and send it, with your gift, to:

  • Africare
    Attention: Gifts
    440 R Street, N.W.
    Washington, D.C. 20001
    USA

  • Africare will send you a gift receipt. Also, we will complete our portion of the form and return it to your employer ― after which, your employer will send us the actual "match."

Your employer's match may double or even triple your personal gift. Some employers also match gifts from retirees and their spouses. Check to see just what your employer's policy is.

If your employer does not (yet) match employee gifts:

  • Encourage them to start a matching gift program.
  • Let Africare help. If you would like a packet of information, please let us know and we will send it either electronically or by U.S. mail.
