Angola

Africare has worked on the front lines of assistance to the people of Angola since 1990. Of necessity, the work has focused on emergency aid; more recently, with the advent of peace, Africare has broadened its development work, especially in the areas of agriculture and health.

Current Africare assistance to Angola:

  • Distribution of seeds and farm tools
  • Food security and resettlement assistance to demobilized soldiers
  • Water resource development
  • Water sanitation
  • Child survival
  • Malaria prevention
  • Polio eradication
  • Emergency health and food assistance to displaced persons
  • Vocational training for young women and teenaged girls
  • Introduction of solar-powered flashlights
