Africare specializes in Africa. We address a wide range of core problems faced by the African people. And we've worked in 36 countries, in all the major regions of the continent.

Mauritania
Africare has supported several assistance projects in Mauritania. The first was emergency relief in the early 1970s, when Mauritania — and the rest of Sahelian West Africa — was in the midst of a severe, six-year drought. The second project, begun in 1981, helped the people of the drought-prone Gouraye sector to increase agricultural production through improved irrigation and farmer training. A third, smaller project focused on vegetable production in the village of Aghlembit.
Currently, Africare has no programs in Mauritania.
