Mozambique

Africare began assisting Mozambique in 1984. Work over the years has ranged from small-scale agriculture and irrigation to a large water and sanitation project to edible oil production. A major program, begun in 2005, is providing community-based support to AIDS orphans, other vulnerable children and their caretakers (Mozambique is among the Southern African nations that constitute the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, which tragically affects the children, too).

Current Africare assistance to Mozambique:

  • Food security
  • Edible oil production
  • Water resource development
  • Assistance to AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children
  • Home-based care for  people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Low-income housing construction
