Sierra Leone

Throughout 1991-2002 period, Africare provided food and medical relief as well as self-help agricultural assistance to hundreds of thousands of war-displaced Sierra Leoneans in the hard-hit Eastern and Southern provinces. During the 1980s, Africare had worked with the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Health to improve its system for the management and distribution of essential pharmaceuticals. Currently, Africare works to support reconstruction, including food and health initiatives, within Sierra Leone.

  • Food security
  • Water resource development
  • Water sanitation
  • Microenterprise development
  • Rehabilitation of health services infrastructure
  • Medical assistance to internally displaced persons
