His Majesty Mahamat Ourada II, Sultan of Dar – Ouaddai, visits Africare

On Friday, July 22, Africare received a very special visitor: His Majesty Mahamat Ourada II, Sultan of Dar – Ouaddai. This distinguished guest is not only the ruler of the Ouaddai region in eastern Chad; he also previously was an Africare staff member in Chad, working with local communities on developing food programs to assist people in becoming more self-reliant.

His Majesty the Sultan was visiting Washington, DC for a series of meetings at the U.S. State Department. In his address at the State Department, he referred to the historical rapport between the Ouaddai and the United States as manifested by cooperation such as the programs (in Chad) of Africare, as the type of cooperation to which he looks forward.

At the Africare offices, His Majesty the Sultan was accompanied by Myron Golden, Director Francophone West and Central African Region, with whom he had worked in Chad. His Majesty the Sultan was introduced to Jeannine B. Scott, Africare's Senior Vice President, and LMichael Green, Vice President of Marketing and Development.
