Africare In the News

On Saturday, April 18, 2015, Africare hosted more than 200 global leaders in business and government at our second annual Creating Opportunities for Development in Africa (CODA) Corporate Summit at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. The event honored African Development Bank President Donald Kaberuka for his tremendous work improving lives and economies across the African continent by transforming the African Development Bank into one of the world’s premier financial institutions. Nigerian Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf helped present Dr. Kaberuka with the 2015 CODA Leadership award and shared heartfelt words on Kaberuka’s impact.

Earlier that day, Africare convened guests for a luncheon at the Willard Hotel in Washington, D.C. The luncheon began with remarks from Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on the current circumstances in her country regarding the Ebola outbreak, and then public and private sector partners joined in an open discussion on post-Ebola recovery strategies.

Thanks so much to all the attendees and sponsors who supported the events. View photos of the 2015 CODA Luncheon here, and view the 2015 CODA Summit gallery here.
