Fred Port an honors graduate of the Anderson School (’66) and football scholarship undergraduate (’63) from UCLA, Fred served in the United States Army focused primarily on training infantry for Viet Nam. He was a consultant with Booz, Allen with assignments in mergers and acquisitions, restructure, organization and marketing/sales. The balance of his career included several senior management and board positions for domestic and international companies and projects, typically in a period of substantial expansion, restructure or startup. Industries included: land and hotel development, management and investment; industrial and commercial real estate development, management and investment; construction materials; executive recruiting; and, premium golf equipment. Emphasis included strategic direction; branding — communications; recruiting; marketing – sales; and, operations.
Fred’s non-profit service dates back more than 40 years including 30+ years with CASA (one-on-one mentoring of severely abused and neglected children) with recognition as CA Volunteer of the Year and National Director of the Year; almost 15 years with Accordia Global Health Foundation and it’s subsequent merger partner, Africare; almost 15 years with The Scholarship Fund – educational and financial support for first-generation post-high school scholars; and other affiliations including private support for local public high schools and public interest law.
Linda and Fred have three children and five grandchildren; they live in San Diego, California. They are both golfers; Linda the Division B-3, Ladies Blind Golf Champion of the World. Fred’s other interests include music; art (computer drawing); writing – five ‘one-page books’ and cancer notes; and, public speaking.
